A walk with my boys

After a basketball game early Saturday morning, Aubrey went birthday shopping with her grandma so I was able to drag convince my boys (all of them) to go exploring for a little bit. The cool foggy
afternoon led to a few adventures in the woods. Exploring the wilderness around us awakens the kids imaginations, it may take a bit of coaxing but its worth it in the end.

The bare trees seem so vulnerable yet beautiful in winter. The stripped limbs letting us see every branch on every tree. Knowing that in a few months they will be covered in giant leaves and providing shade and comfort come spring. The abundance of sticks gave way to epic an sword/stick fight.

This little spot was just down the road from our home. We passed serval small farms and I even stumbled across a deserted fireplace that was still standing even though the home around it was gone. It was oddly satisfying to see, as if I had stumbled into history. Of course what runs through my mind was what happened? How old was the house? Who lived there? All David could think of was hoping his wife wouldn't get shot by trespassing to get the picture!

This year will definitely bring adventures. The kids are more than ready with their metal detectors, cameras and park passes.
